TO BE DISCIPLINED!(Part 4)
“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." (Hebrews 12 :11)The Holy Spirit made us to understand the importance of bringing our physical body into subjection when it comes to being disciplined. The discipline of our physical body goes beyond consecration. It also entails training our body to do the right things at the right time. Apostle Paul in the verse that we read yesterday, said that he trained his body to do what it should and not what the body wants to ( 1 Corinthians 9:27 TLB). Pastor Emeka Ekeanyawu in his teaching said "Discipline is doing what is right and NOT what you like". There's a big difference between what you like and what is right. A disciplined man is a man of etiquette; the one who knows what's to be done and does it, the one who does not think like everyone because he knows he's a new creation and therefore shuns evil.
The right things of life at times are not that convenient or soothing for this flesh to carry out but they are the truths that'll help you in life. You need to conquer this flesh if you're ever to win the war against the devil over your life. There are some spiritual exercises you need to carry out as a Christian but you've failed in them because you're yet to train your body into doing those things. You have to deny yourself of some pleasures of life and wake up to the realities of life. When it's time to pray, you get up and pray; when it's time to go to church, you go to church, etc. Someone might say, "But I've tried that, it didn't work." My dear, you haven't tried enough. Remember what the Holy Spirit taught us on Tuesday that discipline forms the basis of your character. You need to repeatedly practice it over time till it becomes a habit and from there on it forms your character. So you won't find it difficult getting up to pray or attending church services because it is now part of you. Praise God!
When you embrace this discipline, you'll live a life of consistent progress. Plus, you would always be sensitive to everything God is doing in your life. That means you'll always be alert and nothing will catch you unawares.
The Blessed Truth!
The Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I honour you this morning for you are God. Omnipresent; the Ever-Present-God thank you for your security over my life all the time. Thank you for your Word and I thank you for changing our heart. Help my weaknesses Oh God! So I could yield to your Word. Take the stony heart away from me and give me the heart of flesh so I can do your will. Thank you Father, for I know it is done in Jesus' Name. Amen!
Kindly share this with your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours as you remain blessed in Jesus' Name. Amen!Good Morning Everyone!
